Extended versions of all three films from director Peter Jackson's blockbuster prequel to 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy. THE HOBBIT. In 'The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' (2013), while Gandalf heads south on his own, Bilbo, Thorin and the Dwarves enter the treacherous Mirkwood Forest on their way to the mountain.
I was concerned, but I really wanted the extended edition of The Hobbit trilogy on DVD. It's advertised as Region 2. I personally hate the whole "region" idea. Anyway, this is supposed to operate in region 4 which includes Australia. And it's perfect. I loved watching this. Every disk is great. I bought this not knowing if it would be ok. I tell you, it's just perfect.
Many extra scenes in this extended edition of The Hobbit trilogy
The DVDs appear to be authentic and of good quality - and the movies speak for themselves. Probably better to have read the book first, but not necessary. We love all things Hobbit/LOTR so the extended editions of both was a must.
All the extras are just wonderful. Imagine, each extended movie takes 2 DVDs. Leaves 3. Those 3 are chockers with the behind the scenes documentary by Peter Jackson's gang. Awesome.
Highly recommended.
