This is the world of Numb3rs. Rob Morrow is Don Eppes, and FBI agent who recruits his mathematically gifted brother Charlie (David Krumholtz) to help the Bureau solve a wide range of challenging crimes in Los Angeles - thus tackling the most baffling criminal cases from two very distinctive perspectives. The pilot episode starts off very dark but the story soon becomes about the problem solving. A really nice relationship show, where brothers, parent and colleagues all support each other and work together. The maths is interesting and is integrated well into the storylines. As the series develops we can really engage in the characters and their lives and struggles. It is no wonder there are more seasons. Apart from the subject matter and imagery of the first five minutes of the pilot this would be fine for early teens up and shows a great practical use of maths, teamwork and lateral thinking.
