you have to improvise with this unit as they recommend, Bachman have a pair of boilers 2 colours 00 gauge from Hattons Model Railways for £4.00 the sound unit fits perfect in these and the end part pulls off, slip the unit with the sound tube in, drill out the flange section of the end part that you pull off then replace it and it makes a perfect unit which can be placed or glued to a bogie. the sound tube end is floppy, use the cap of a small pritt stick glue stick, cut the end off the cap and the tube fits perfect on it, and so you have a perfect sound unit that blends in with the layout. the price is not bad at all and the batteries are very cheap to buy online so I would recommend it

It went off if you just touched the layout ! Which means it was active as soon as any other locomotive on the layout was moved. As I have mainly steam locos it became ridiculous. Once becoming active the idle/run down time was three minutes even if standing on a separate table ! As I bought bought a steam and diesel modules to evaluate, the steam one worked well but proved no good for slow movement, and, the soldered joint from the battery was 'dry' and came apart when removing the battery. These became the biggest waste of money to date regarding my model railway as they have both been binned.

Sensor driven sound fx to liven up your train set. I enjoy setting off my engines with little ambient noises. Make a lightweight sound tube out a rolled stick note, trim to size, and stash it in a carriage. Brake vans are good at hiding them, as long as there are holes to let sound out A few of these modules on the go at once is quite evocative. You have to try to match engine speed to the pace of the fx in progress, which will stop, start or increase in response to the amount of vibration. Careful positioning of the sensor in relation to the sound tube, or possibly some shielding, may be required to ensure sounds stop or start as desired.

This is a great way to have sound on older models that will no matter what be unable to be sound chipped especially Lima which draw too much power.

Could possibly be made tiny bit smaller to fit easier inside s sliding door wagon easier Otherwise sund realistic An Extra.,,"toot" on start might not come amiss.

A fantastic cheaper alternative to a D CC set up if it was slightly less expensive to purchase. Another alternative would be to lower the price if buying more than one as most layouts would need more thane one to make it effective.

it is good , not as good as the Steam sound but never or less i would still say on the layout it does add life to the track.

Very realistic sound, varying with the speed of the loco. Works on N gauge if you put it on a flat bed wagon and cover it , so that it looks like an abnormal size load within a goods train.
