Mine suffered a small dent to the screen in transit but it works fine and is very simple to use. In hindsight it would have been better with plug in ports because I move it for use on multiple batteries in the boat and truck.

The graph shows this solar controller putting +15V into a 12V car battery. The read out on the controller was 14.6V. My multimeter showed +16.8V, which is too high for a standard sealed lead acid battery. As you can, even after a reset at lunchtime the voltage continues to spike over 15V. So if your looking to put solar on your 4WD a cheap controller may be cooking your AGM battery. Do that twice without knowing what the problem was and a good quality controller starts making sense. There are good PWM controllers out there but they're worth testing before you leave them on all day.

I bought this as a short term replacement for my original fangpusun 2020 which has died after 5 years full time continuous charging. This is actually under $10 direct from China but I needed it quick so spending $20 on this is OK. As another review stated, MPPT is all the rage but they revert to PWM anyway and if you have a good max solar array then this will be more than adequate. USB charging is a bonus but I don't think I'll leave my phone plugged in to this in the shed. This would be a good controller for 2 panels used for camping although waterproof units are available at the same price point. Bang for buck value is excellent. If it lasts 2 or 3 years it's a good buy.

Straight out opf the box, this unit failed. The solar panel input was 22.3 volts; the output to all three provisions – battery, load, and USBs – was unusable. Our friend has a n almost identical unit from the same manufacturer, same case, same decals, and when we swapped the units, his worked – after about and hour. So the fault was not in our system.

I've only had the unit working for a month or so but it is doing the job I bought it for. It supplies power to keep my battery pack charged to operate outright lights and fish pond pumps. The light sensor works well and my garden night lights and front door security lights come on without fail at dusk and turn off at the sort timer. All good.
