Less brutal than the two previous albums, this one is nonetheless an underappreciated treat. Among the highlights of the disc are the energetic anthem "Steamrock Fever" and the growling song of androgyny "He's a Woman, She's a Man.".
I never heard of this album, till I took a chance and bought it. I have Fly to The Rainbow, used to have Tokyo Tapes (Live), and Blackout (considered their best), Love Drive, but this was a new one! #5 & #6 are the BEST songs, but there are a couple others that are ok. What I found VERY interesting was that - You can actually really hear how the band writes their songs. It was apparent to me that a melody & rhythm was first "jammed" by the boys. When they got a good one they then added timing & lyrics to it and created most of these songs that way, instead of lyrics/story first then adding music. Another little treasure about this album is you can really hear the Very Clear/Articulate HARD & ACCURATE guitar playing of Uli Jon Roth. I really think he's using a Electric Mistress through a Fender Vibroverb (got one) to get his luscious sweet SRV/Hedricks-ish vibe & tone which is a real treat and a real testament to his ability, as well as the rest of the band members proficiency in playing. There are however 3 songs that have no lyrics... it's hummed through which is starange... Is it the BEST album ... No, not to me, but I haven't heard Virgin Killer (ordered) yet. Is it worth having in your line up … Well If you like Scorps - I mean- you like The Scorpions - - then YES - It's an absolute MUST HAVE!!!Read full review
