    Garmin G P S Signal Extension Cable

    The Extension Cable for the Garmin GTM Traffic receiver has arrived and I took a look at it and "said to my self Really" Any-ways What I am trying to say is that it's juat a cheap looking piece of Cable that makes No real difference to the Gps signal really. Or It could be that I live outside of the city and there is no signal, But I tried It and If you want to waste your money than go ahead this is just my opinion. But It arrived on time and was Quite Pricey for a piece of cable .

    Slightly better reception

    The GTM26 (and probably the other Garmin power cord/traffic receivers) consists of a 12V to 5V converter and an active antenna. The antenna is bundled into part of the power cord and the antenna amplifier is in the black box in the middle of the cord. The external antenna plugs into the black box and, as best I can tell, disconnects the power cord antenna and replaces it with an antenna that you can route separately from the power cord - hopefully for better reception. It works but don't expect miracles. Reception will normally only improve slightly. It's mainly useful when the power cord is routed in a way that the in-cord antenna is blocked. For the price, it's a useful accessory.
