Doesn't work well with a mouse, onscreen keyboard is terrible. Still looking for a file explorer app that can scroll through large file folders. But plays hd and processor speed much better than the cheap Chinese units.

Xiaomi Mi box S is excellent
I have had this for about 2x weeks now and love it. I have previously owned a variety of similar streaming devices Like Fire stick, but this beats all. Fast set-up with Google ID that connects with all apps, intergrates with your Android phone so you can pay for some services like Google movies if required. Can also use your phone into as remote control via Google. The best quality sound and picture I've seen on a streaming device.

Not easy to set up
Not easy to set up, the user manual is almost useless, no help for downloading other apps in the so called manual.. Definitely needs another USB port, one for a wifi keyboard and one for a hdd or stick. Took ages to get it to accept my wifi, kept giving me an error message about the password BUT then did not give an easy path to go back and change it, in the end had to keep adding a "NEW" wifi to get to the point of adding a password ( used the same one each time, NO entry mistakes) Could have incorporated the WPS function would have solved over an hours frustration trying to set up.

A very powerful little box!
Great for streaming and great for watching video from hard drive. I watch a lot of ABC iView. I just need to install the app and sign in. Streaming programs or movies from ABC iView goes without a hitch. I also watch a lot of videos from my own hard drive. I just install Kodi and again, it plays all my files beautifully. Finally, chrome casting to the Mi Box is also easy and works well. This Mi Box seems to be able to do all I needed it to do. Great value! Lots of my family members are all using this Mi Box as well after I introduced to them. So easy to use once it is all set up. More importantly, everything works as it should. All of us love this box so much that we each have a spare back up in case it breaks down. And so far, after a few years use, our first purchases are still going strong.Read full review

Xiaomi OK for now
Google approved device, without malware built-in, and high quality hardware. Decodes h265, VP9 and runs Netflix very well. Other cheap TV boxes will suffer random failures. Unfortunately, the Xiaomi security makes it hard to load a browser and other random apps. They have changed the remote recently, so it's a bit stiffer. Android TV is also forcing banners on the launcher, so you have to go back to stock, which may not be possible in a few months.
