I live in an Independent/Assisted Living facility, so I could identify wiih Hendrik Groen. This book is set in the Netherlands in a nursing home and oh how I could identify with the life and problems that he wrote about, bad food, annoying residents and the urge to get out and enjoy life, no matter how short it may be! I may even start an "Old but not dead yet club" here! Funny, wise and yes, sad at time, but a good read.

In a relatively boring home for aged people in Europe, there is a patronizing supervisor, several cowed residents and a few rebels. The book's humor has an insightful, targeted bite. Well written, diary style, this novel is an enjoyable read, including for senior citizens. It is so realistic! The book is recommended, and not just for our elders.
