What a wonderful product this would be if we could do what American households can do with it. However, it is just a glorified talking alarm clock with some nice banter about the weather and driving times. Why do we in Australia get screwed with higher prices and less functionality?

Google home good stuff
Early days so I have no idea of the devices life expectancy. It's easy to set up. Easily recognizes your commands, sometimes requires more specific questions. It's so cool to have music or podcasts playing via voice command however specific requests require a spotty premium account. It has good sound. Ask it about news and it plays bulletins from sources like sbs or and, you can change the sources from within the phone app. It can set alarms, convert measurements, set timers. It has once voice only at this time but that may change. Overall useful item to have, if you dont mind having a listening device in the home. The mic can me muted via a button on the rear of the device. I'm glad I got it on sale at Bing Lee online store.

Good looking and useful tool
As long as you stick to commands in tutorials, or ask things that Wikipedia knows about, it is brilliant. Try and move far from there though, like as it to do any sort of websearch and you get a "don't know", but that will improve over time too. Fun being able to say "Hey Google, play Uriah Heep" and get them up within a couple of seconds with great sound.

My partner bought the Mini. I knew nothing of these things. In one week, I own a Google mini and a Google home running lights, electric blanket, turning the tv to Netflix and playing my shows. Now I need just one more..😁 The Home has great bass.
