I upgraded from the old 820 so not hard to be impressed by by the much newer 1030plus. Screen is double in size, great touch sensitivity, fast response moving maps around, great battery life compared with my old unit, found it easy to use and set up and the speaker is much louder.

Garmin make great GPS products for a variety of sports, but they come at an inflated price and they are not without issues. From a week of intense mtb riding the Edge 1030 Plus is certainly a step above my previous software problematic Edge 1030, but not sure if it's as good as the Hammerhead Karoo 2 or not. From all the reports I've read, the Karoo wins by a margin. My problem was that I didn't have enough time to wait for the Karoo to be delivered and stockists in Australia are nil, except direct. As I needed a new Garmin in a hurry, this is the way I went. Still this is an exceptional product through if the software glitches from my previous 1030 don't resurface.
