I have the DVD but not the box which would help me at a glance to remember what the movie is like. I took the paper cover out of the DVD case and carefully trimmed it to the 6 inch square of a CD/DVD sleeve. From the back find the movie’s rating, whether there are subtitles , and whet full frame or wide screen. This information will be placed at the bottom of modified DVD sleeve. If available the movie’s description along with illustrations were put on the back of the sleeve and I now have a way to protect and store this movie alphabetically with other movies in my collection at a fraction of the space required for the traditional CD/DVD case. I have 7 boxes each with over 100 movies. Can you imagine traditional cases would require? I am now 82 years old and when the time comes that I am unable to get out and about I will have these movies as well and as a library of books to read and/or audiobooks to listen to to profitability listen to and learn from. Sean Connery plays a medical research scientist who stumbles onto the medical cure of the century; however, he doesn't know how to re-create it. Lorraine Bracco has come into the midst of jungle to find Connery, as he terminated communication with the outside world 3 years prior, as his boss to determine the progress of his research and cut his funding. Together they search for his lost cure. Bracco is a loud mouth New Yorker and is comical in her efforts. It's a great movie, check it out!

An eccentric scientist working for a large drug company is working on a research project in the Amazon jungle. He sends for a research assistant and a gas chromatograph because he's close to a cure for cancer. When the assistant turns out to be a mere woman, he rejects her help. Meanwhile the bulldozers get closer to the area in which they are conducting research, and they eventually learn to work together, and begin falling in love. The two leads had a good chemistry in this movie, and the constant tension and conflict between them was very convincing and helped to propel the story along. An enjoyable movie, I recommend this movie to anyone looking for something a bit different.
Excellent film about a research physician, Dr. Robert Campbell (Sean Connery) who, having devoted his life to science, has moved his research station deep into the jungles of the Amazon Basin searching for a cure for cancer. His wife and research assistant left him years ago, and he has since moved his lab even deeper into the jungle and has not communicated with his employers for more than two years. He has been living with a remote tribe of Indians as a medicine man. The thing that drew him to this tribe was that they had absolutely no history of any form of cancer. Quite by accident his research has yielded him a chemical formula derived from a flower that grows high in the tree tops 100 feet up. The resulting yield cures cancer! Problem is, he hasn't been able to successfully duplicate it. The resulting attempts are all missing one key ingredient, and that is the ingredient that is the cure. Dr. Raye Crane (Lorraine Bracco)has been sent in response to a telegram received from Dr. Campbell requesting a research assistant and some new equipment. He doesn't know that she is now his big boss and is there to see if he has lost his mind, or made some major discovery. She also has the authority to pull the plug on his corporate research sponsorship. After her first impression, having arrived at night during some sort of a pagan style festival, she is more inclined to pull the plug. When he explains what he has found, she doesn't believe him, but within one day he shows her proof. Thus the effort to again duplicate the formula begins. They are very much under the gun, as a roadway being driven through the jungle threatens to decimate the only area where the specific flowers grow. There was a native witchdoctor who left because of Campbell's unintended interference. Since then, Campbell has attempted to approach him many times to talk to him about the magic flowers, but has been unsuccessful. When a young boy develops a malignant nodule on his windpipe, time becomes critical, and the last of the serum is used. Unable to artificially fabricate the serum and the road construction now very near, the Brazilian Government has ordered the village moved to another location. With the flowers now facing obliteration and the road construction crew knocking on the door, a new batch of serum containing the missing ingredient is successfully created. The flowers weren't the secret, but an enzyme or pheromone left behind by a species of ants that had somehow corrupted a sugar solution, appear to be the key. In an attempt to stop the progress of the road crew, a large fire erupts and practically all of the equipment and research is destroyed. Dr. Crane, having not been Campbell's first or second choice as research assistant, now vows to resupply Campbell with all new equipment, his choice of research assistant, and whatever else he needs, now that he knows exactly what he is looking for. The village is relocating to a new sight, and the old medicine man has come back. He tells Campbell that he is welcome to come along, if he behaves himself this time. The old man has grown to respect the motives of his rival. He further says that he will teach him big "Ju Ju". Campbell, has fallen in love with Dr. Crane and he tells her that she is now his first choice. She loves him too, and decides to stay. This was a beautifully filmed movie, and the musical score was uniquely catchy.Read full review
It's a great story. The acting is very good. The plot is engaging. I gave it a four star rating because the DVD was used, not new. It was, however, in very good shape.

I finally had a chance to watch this movie the other evening, I know it seems like it was an older movie but worth every second . and its a true fact that people tend to forget while sitting at home that our rain forests are vanishing. this movie will touch you it will make you think for a minuite you wantto help it willl also confuse you as to how to help, it will make you cry, and you will laugh for sure, the pairing of Mr. Connery and Ms. Broccco, If i spelled her name correctly will knock you off your feet. its that .. Its that I want you but I don't want you to know I want you kind of love story mixedin to a serious issue. it is well worth buying tis movie. It was one of those movies you did not want to end.. you wanted more more even as it did end. Thank you for your time.
Action, adventure, and Sean Connery! This movie is fun to watch and yet makes you think. We are destroying the rain forests in South America. This has and will continue to have a negative effect on our planet, and on us! This movie brings that to light. Everyone should see it. Especially young adults, as they are the people who will be in a position to changes things in the future. There is some nudity, but it is the natives who live in the rain forest and it wouldn't be real if they were made to wear more clothing. As you get into the movie it becomes very natural to see everyone's back side and women's breasts. (However, young adolescents might have trouble not giggling!) I highly recommend this movie!
I've watched this movie numerous times and have never found a flaw. It's brilliantly done and makes you wonder about all the other "natural" cures out there that are awaiting discovery. It's unfortunate that in the US, cures to diseases are so regulated and censored by the FDA and AMA, where in other countries, natural, herbal cures have been used succesfully for hundreds, if not thousands of years. WAKE UP AMERICA. This is a great film that will prompt much discussion on the subject, and it is beautifully portrayed by two great actors. Also, the musical score soars with the music. Don't miss it!
Sean Connery plays a eccentric doctor attempting to find a cure for cancer by typing forest flowers in the jungle. Enter another research person, an attractive female doctor, who gets in Sean Connery's way. The chemistry is explosive at first, but each find their common ground. Soon they discover they need each other and fall in love. A real love story.
