This is a very compact box set of the five Asylum studio albums that launched and established Warren Zevon as a major songwriter, singer and performer. These albums contain most of his greatest songs, but of the remainder, there is hardly a mediocre track, except on "The Envoy" which exhibits the fissures that led Asylum to terminate his contract. Nevertheless, given Zevon's very high standards, it is good enough for inclusion in this set. "Stand in the Fire" is a live album and a standout of the genre. The support band, Boulder, propells Zevon beyond his usual boisterous best for a bravura performance. For anyone interested in Warren Zevon, these albums are essential listening and, in hindsight, a clear indication that he wasn't done yet
