I love detective shows from England. They are well written, and performed with very little foul language even in the midst of violence! Unreal as it may be, it serves to focus on the detecting skills and personal interactions that make these movies very watchable. Its also interesting to have something to learn aside from the police matters, such as, Morse's love of classical music and cryptic crosswords, from long learnt periodic tables to try and unravel the plot before the end, to the reason behind Inspector Morse's limp, and miserable temperament.

ENDEAVOUR a detective who likes opera and classical music, and the rough family man who climbed the ladder the hard way. Add one pretty daughter. How will they all get on? So apart from fairly gentle crime scenes - no blood and guts to be seen - but a quirky forensic doctor to deduce all manner of things from his post mortems. The perfect series including glimpses of Oxford life. Plenty of personal life to sort through, and crims galore. Well acted and scripted and mostly won't give the viewer nightmares. Love it.
