I saw a preview of this game on "nesguide.com" and I was amazed by it. I just knew I had to "run" to ebay and buy this baby. The nearly 16-bit quality of the graphics, the gameplay variety: There's the Metal Gear/GTA style in the towns and some wide open areas, the Contra side scrolling style and the first person shooter segments in the shooting galeries and a few caves, where you can actually use the zapper. HWild Gunman was never as satisfying as this. The only minor complains I have is a that some areas are pretty repetitive, and despite the variety in the gameplay, some parts get really tedious (looking in every house, getting lost in the FPS mazes) but this game is a perfect exemple of just how good Konami is and how well they could handle liscences, even if they're as dated as The Lone Ranger. The game clearly pushes the NES to its limits with its great graphics, superb cut-scenes, killer soundtrack and a few grainy but cool digitzed voice clips. If you can get your hands on it, I highly recomend you do. It's pretty cheap, and is worth the time and money of any NES fan or collector.Read full review
In The Lone Ranger the story goes Butch Cavendish, your archenemy and the evil man who murdered your father, has taken the President hostage in a dangers attempt to lure you into a trap. You will be playing as the Lone Ranger and at the start of the game the only weapons you will have is a basic pistol and can be loaded with basic or silver bullets and your mask. Therefore you will have to take the dusty streets of the Old West as The Lone Ranger. You will have to journey though twenty towns, camps, and forts as you track Cavendish and you will have to fight has army of wicked henchmen along the way. You well also get the chance to go up against true infamous scum outlaws in the world which will include Juaquin Fingers, the Berg Brothers, and Su Lunchay. Even though you will start with a basic gun you will be able to buy better guns. In addition, the more scum bag henchmen you kill, the more money you will get. So remember to have fun killing, the Scum Bags of course.Read full review
I got this game to expand my collection of zapper games, but I haven't figured out how to get the zapper to work with this game, currently it appears it does not. The game reminds me of legend of Zelda as far as gameplay goes, because it's essentially Zelda with a gun. I don't mean for anyone to take that as a bad thing, in fact I like it. Like Zelda the character can move up, down, left, right, you can visit a great number of towns and shoot people with your gun Zelda style. You use money you get by killing others, to get better guns, and to heal yourself by going to a doctor. The game is fun to play, and will die a lot til you get use to the game.
The price was VERY reasonable.
