This is the introduction to the science behind the cut point.
Never thought editing had so many nuances. This is must read for anyone in film and video. The man preaches that a cut should never be inched in one direction or another. That statement alone should shake your thought process. Discusses the rhythm and blink point of cutting.

In The Blink of an Eye Is an absolute Must Read for any editor who wants to be a cut above. :) I learned so much that was simply glossed over or not even touched upon in school. There are concepts that Mr. Murch goes into that will reveal secrets about human nature itself. I.E. why do we blink? Why does a cut work? Why is seeing a movie at a public place always going to have a different effect on a viewer? What might the future of moving pictures going to look like? This book is also full of wonderful war stories and ways of working that anyone in the production field will love. Powerful, thought provoking, life changing. There are concepts in this book that you will carry with you for the rest of your life. If you're not careful you just might learn something.

Provides perspective for Editors
Murch uses films as examples to describe his point. I love the common sense approach to deciding when to make a cut. I learned quite a bit from this book and look at film cuts differently now.
