I first heard about this book through the small independent movie I saw on DVD of the same name. The movie encompasses a very small part of the book which is a series of vignettes about the life of the author Dito Montiel. This book is important as it gives you a glimpse of the wild yet often confusing journey of boy to man to adult, because there is a difference between a man and an adult, that not the exact road many of us have taken, it is the same journey. I bought the book for my son who also though only in his teens has found points to relate to. It has also opened us different lines of discussion between us as he takes the journey as well. Its a good book and there is a lot to be said for it being just a good book
Dont get me wrong, this IS a good book. I had just watched the sundance film of this book. I was so invested in the characters and story, I instantly jumped on ebay to find the book. This is the first time EVER, i have liked a movie more than the book. Like i said, the book is good, but the movie and book are nothing alike. Its like two completely different stories. Names are the same, but thats about it. So, i do like and recommend the book. I just warn those who saw the movie, and want more of that story, its not in this book.
Haven't read the book yet but heard it's a good one.The movie was good but everyone knnows that the books are better. I can't wait to start enjoyong the book. I've flipped through and looked at some of the pictures, which I am sure I'll get the explanation for when I come to them.
