Other Vitamins and Dietary Supplements

Besides your daily dose of Vitamin C, you may do well to consider taking other vitamins and dietary supplements for added health care support. These are most helpful on those days when your appetite is low and you aren’t getting enough nutrients from the food you are consuming. When you are sick, these also help bring your immunity back to normalcy and help hasten recovery periods.

Iron Supplements

Studies show that we lose iron on a daily basis. About one milligramme is lost from sloughing of cells from the skin, including the gastrointestinal tract. Menstruation in menopausal women can cause a loss of two milligrammes each day. Growing babies and children have a greater need for iron. Like these mentioned, if you are unable to get sufficient iron from your daily diet, taking iron supplements is highly recommended.

Biotin Supplements

Biotin is a B vitamin. People most commonly take it for healthy hair and skin, but biotin supplements also help support a healthy metabolism. These may also help you balance sugar levels in the system. Some prescribe them for a healthy cardiovascular system and for a healthy functioning of the thyroid. For options, you may try Natrol Biotin tablet. It is available in 1,000 mcg, 5,000 mcg and 10,000 mcg. Natrol Biotin Fast Dissolve allows for quicker absorption and can be taken without water. Natrol Biotin Plus gives a combination of biotin and lutein in every tab.

Fish Oil and Krill Oil

Fish Oil and Krill oil are your sources of Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 supports the management of heart-related conditions. It helps normalise cholesterol and triglyceride levels. Some prescribe it for managing mood problems. It helps support healthy brain and nerve functions. Omega-3 also helps keep the joints healthy and relieves symptoms of mild osteoarthritis. Omega-3 is in both marine and plant foods. The Heart Foundation recommends a consumption of 500 mg. per day of marine-based Omega-3 and one gram per day of plant-based Omega-3. For those who may not meet this recommendation, Krill Oil supplements are available in stores. For options, Bioglan sells both fish oil and red krill oil in different dosages.
