Receipt Printers

Receipt Printers

Cash, card or check, all customers need a receipt in the end. Receipt printers are designed to fit just about any transaction scenario in any business establishment. From a simple printing calculator to cash-register integrated solutions, the receipt printers offer versatility in type and printing technology. Choosing the right one for your needs should be made based on the type of business you own and the level of detail that needs to be presented on the bill itself.

Wired or Wireless

Depending on where you need to deliver a printed copy of the receipt, the first choice you should make is between wired and wireless models. Wired receipt printers connect through Ethernet, USB, serial or parallel connection and can offer an excellent range of additional functionalities. A wired model can be used through several terminals, which in some cases largely improves receipt delivery. The time it takes or an operator to prepare the bill is far greater than the receipt printing process, so more than one operators makes sense in many scenarios.

Benefits of Wireless Technology

Wireless models can be entirely independent of any nearby machinery. They are excellent for selling door to door or for mobile marketing teams. Note that a wireless printing terminal can still be connected to a register via Bluetooth, so some of them count as cash register accessories.

Printing Technology

Your receipt printer can be impact, thermal or inkjet. Thermal is usually considered the most practical one as it is fast and reliable. It requires special thermal paper which the printer heats the heats up to form letters on it. Thermal printers have trouble with heat elements in their surroundings, so if you are planning to use it in a kitchen or another place with higher temperature, opt for other technologies. The impact receipt printers also known as the dot matrix printers deliver a similar detail receipt, but they works well regardless of the temperature. These printers also produce receipts which are permanent as opposed to the thermal printed receipts which fade over time. Both impact and inkjet printers are slower than thermal, but more reliable if a receipt needs to be kept for several years. If you want to add a bit of colour to the receipt as well, branded or unbranded receipt printers with inkjet technology are available in large quantities.
