Golf Rangefinders & Scopes

If a bad day on the golf course is better than a good day at the office, just imagine what a good day of playing feels like! Whether you're a scratch golfer or have a handicap in the double digits, the right accessories can help make all the difference. One such tool is a golf range finder, also known as a golf GPS, that can help you figure out how far away key course features, such as the hole or bunkers, are.

eBay's selection of golf range finders and other golf equipment, tools and supplies can help you keep your drives straight and your puts on line.

When to use different types of golf clubs

Determining which club to use comes down to how well you can whack the ball. Head to the driving range and hit a bucket of balls with each club, noting the approximate distance you cover. Then you can use the readings on your golf GPS to better inform your decisions out on the course. That being said, here are some general guidelines many players follow.

Your driver has less lift than other clubs, which means its face isn't slanted as much. You generally use your driver on the first stroke of a hole unless the distance to the cup is short.

Most golfers also carry 3-woods and 5-woods. They're most commonly used when you're on the fairway after your drive. They have higher loft capabilities than drivers.

Irons are generally used when your target (usually the hole) is less than 180 metres away. As the number on your iron goes up, the more loft it has. Loft makes it easier to hit the ball higher in the air, which often means it will stay closer to where it lands.

Wedges have extreme loft so you can hopefully drop the ball directly on the spot for which you're aiming without having to worry about too much roll.

Finally, putters are used once you've made it to the green and you want to roll the ball into the cup.
