A kindergartner and her pooch go to the beach. They have a grand time on one of nature's best playgrounds, with electronic devices required. Dixie and Taco's stories are written for parents and kindergartners to read together. High frequency words are written in blue to make it easy for beginners to pick them out and practice reading them.
J Monkeys has always been a storyteller, although mostly just for self-entertainment. J was shocked to learn that everybody didn't spend their time with their head in a cloud imagining what they would do if some kind of adventure presented itself. After getting a degree in Creative Writing from the University of Connecticut (Go Huskies!) and spending WAY too long writing boring things for a regular paycheck, J is proud to be a published author at long last. J was inspired to write the Dixie and Taco picture book series by the real-life Dixie. When Dixie was in kindergarten, she was convinced that she couldn't read, even though Dixie knew the sight words her class was learning. The picture books Dixie was reading didn't have enough of her sight words in them, or the font was too small, or the words were all over the page and Dixie had trouble following them. So, being a loving parent, J wrote a book to fix all those problems.
