A very special boy with the power to heal is born at San Francisco's Lands End one night during a meteor shower. Four years later he changes forever the lives of three women: Alberta, an eighty-year-old woman living a modest life with her devoted dog who raises the abandoned boy, creating a love beyond measure; LaDonna, a woman crippled by fear escaping an abusive marriage in the Ozarks, who unlocks a magical power within, learning to love herself in the process; and Delia, a Beverly Hills media mogul, guided by the mischievous ghost of her grandmother, who sets out on a journey to find the boy and finds herself instead. DOCTOR COTTON is a timeless fable, where the supernatural coexists with the seemingly ordinary, weaving a miraculous tale of redemption, salvation and ultimately what it means to be loved.
Stephen Barrett was born in Springfield, Missouri, the 'Queen City of the Ozarks' in the last century. He never pronounced it Missoura. He escaped to San Francisco in 1999, where he lives with his partner and dogs high on a hill with views of the bay. Stephen is currently editing the prequel to Doctor Cotton and working on a new novel involving the supernatural, with a darker love story.
