Great scanner, easy to use and produces first class images. You can set it on full automatic or on professional mode for greater control. Either way it produces first class scans.

I've used prints and slides and the colour and resolution from both, just using standard settings, was great. Only slight problem I had was with negatives where the static on the negs caused small pieces of lint/dust/fluff to be attracted to the negs which you can't see until you've scanned them. Love the ability to scan multiple prints at once. Achieves what I was after, great quality digital reproductions of my slides and prints.

I ummed and ahhed about this scanner; do I need to spend that much more to get this one over the V500? Is the DMax really worth it? To be honest, I can't answer that without testing the same negs on a V500, but the scans from this machine are sweet. I have experience with Nikon Coolscans (4000 and 8000 when they were first released), and maybe they'd give a better scan, but it's semantic in my opinion. This machine does an excellent job without considering the price. Considering the price makes it even better.
Great scanner & easy to set up.
