I purchased this for my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel after spending many days looking at what was available & reading the reviews. What stands out is the fact that there is far more choice in countries like the US, compared to Australia. For Australia I found only 2 products that claimed to be designed specifically to protect your dog in a car accident. These were the Purina PetLife Click product and this one, the EzyDog Drive Car Harness. Initially I was considering buying the Purina product, until I came across this one. The Purina product has what appears to be a relatively small chest plate & the padded strap going from the chest plate to the back of the dog, seemed too narrow for my liking, the straps also appear to be relatively narrow & they come directly under the dog’s front armpits. I felt this could cause chafing & be quite uncomfortable for my pet, plus in an accident the forces involved would put pressure on these sensitive areas; further, the buckles are plastic & there is no padding beneath them. The EZYDOG Harness is a totally different proposition (but at a MUCH higher price point). This harness is EXTREMELY well made, the padded breast plate is wide along its whole length, helping to spread the loads in an accident over a large surface area, thus greatly reducing the risk of injury to your pet, the straps are wide, again helping spread the load, & do not go under the dog's armpits, the buckles are made of very high quality metal with padding beneath them. It is easy to to adjust the harness to fit your dog & the attention to detail can be seen in the way the extra length of each strap rolls up & is neatly secured under a Velcro fastener. The quality of this product inspires confidence that your pet is given the best available protection should you, unfortunately, be involved in an accident. My one slight initial disappointment was that the metal D rings cannot be used as an connecting point for a seat-belt strap (as they're not designed to cope with the loads in an accident). The seat-belt MUST be passed through the handles on the back of the harness; this restricts the movement of your dog somewhat, however I can understand why this is the case. The metal D rings are there for you to attach the dog's lead if you are walking it in the harness. Personally, I would not be walking my dog in this harness; it will be purely for the car. So, for the reasons mentioned above, I chose the EZYDOG Drive Harness, even though it was more than double the price of the Purina product. In the end, if you consider the potential costs of vet bills etc, should your dog is injured, I think this harness is well worth the price, and apart from injuries, this can save your pet's life & you can't put a price on that.Read full review
