Games for Writing was the first Peggy Kaye book I bought. Since then, I've purchased all her others. Needless to say, I'm now a Peggy Kaye fan. The games that my child and I have played out of the book have helped her and she has enjoyed each of them so far. Ms. Kaye prefaces each of her groups of games with information about why the games help a child and what to expect. I like the way she starts out each game talking about one of her students, the problem he/she was having, how the game was played and the outcome. The book is loaded with games and each is marked as to which grade would be best served by playing it. The games are made for Kindergarten through third grade. Most of the games only require pencil and paper, maybe the use of coins or paper clips, dice but nothing elaborate. Some of her comments in the beginning of her books speak about how a parent shouldn't try to take the place of the child's teacher. I just overlook those comments because I homeschool. I think she's quite clever with the games she has created. She has too much to offer in her books for me to be offended by some of the comments. This one is a gem. Get it and enjoy!Read full review
