Unexpectedly one of the best books on research and genealogy I have read.
I loved this book. When I first saw it I thought..."oh oooo" it is going to be written in very heavy text book style, as I was expecting the usual large soft covered book, lot's of illustrations etc. Well it was amazing, hard covered, beautifully presented, well written, and I couldn't put it down. Every time I had spare minutes I would pick it up and read. Now it's time to re read it and note the bits I really want to remember. But all of it was really useful, I didn't feel the need to flick over any chapters. It was very relevant and, even though as an ex Librarian I thought I knew about researching and citing sources, this blew me away. Especially of course as a mad keen genealogist. I hope Helen Osborn writes more books. I will be buying them. This is not a hard book to read, it flows well, and she uses examples which also makes it very readable.Read full review
