The Hills of Home starts where Heathen Hearts Book Two: American Dreams, leaves off. Mauled by Malcolm Forsythe with his devious plans, Mac Macleod, Anja Lindstrom, Gitte Kozak and Deedee Hanlon have few choices left. They can either stay in Los Angeles to be sued for breach of contract and possibly murdered, or they can run. Packing their seriously ill friend Gitte into Big Mac, they head rth. Travelling by obscure roads they head for the only place they might find the time and the place to recover, Alberta, Canada Mac's old home. Their intention is to lay low...try and stay below Malcolm Forsythe's radar. Instead of Aunt Lucille's ranch west of Pincher Cree, Mac takes them east and rth of Medicine Hat. On a ranch owned by Mac's friend Lorne's Uncle Joe they find the place where they might lck their wound while waiting for instructions from Peter Kozak back in Vienna. Reuniting once again with Alex Wainwright, along with Lorne Sawczyn they decide to pass the time by forming a new band. Cameleon is born on the J7- ranch with the idea of playing only the small and obscure Alberta towns where Malcolm and his organization wouldn't bother to look for them. On a horseback holiday, in the Alberta Rockies, Mac introduces Anja to a valley protected by a Mountain God...a olmec like face high on Prospect Mountain. Anja senses the magic of the place and the power. She tells them that this valley is like a window into the spirit world. Mac has the feeling that someone else besides Anja's Grandma, The White Witch of Lindstrom Wood, is watching them. Still, it seems that their luck has turned a corner. Their new band may be on it's way to great things in the music world. The thing is, as Mac pointed out, it is hard to remain hidden and have success in the world of Rock and Roll. Eventually...everybody, including those with ill intentions, will find out t just who you are...but where you are as well.
Jack Kunst is an Alberta boy. Born in Stettler, Alberta he has lived in Edmonton, Calgary, and now resides just outside Pincher Creek. In there he made sojourns to ancestral homes in Australia and Europe as well as living for a time on neutral ground in Kaslo, British Columbia. It was here that his desire to write took a hold. His travels and his imagination are the combination in the creation of this and other stories. The Heathen Hearts series is his first published work though many other stories are in the works.
