The book discusses strategies of comparison and explores some new perspectives in comparative research. It does not deal with the methodological and technical issues, the exploration of which would have required another book. They focus instead on the general strategy of comparative research and do not make an inventory of all the accumulated knowledge on political parties, pressure groups, parliaments, bureaucracies, elites and so on. Rather their aim is to present a critical appraisal, a "state of the art". This 2nd edition has been completely revised with the addition of three new chapters on legitimacy, neocorporatism and worldwide statistical analysis.
