A book of poetry drawing from the personal experiences of the author, ranging from experiences in youth to international travel.
Jan Veile was born in 1954 in Seattle, Washington, and graduated from Ballard High School in 1972. It was during her high-school days that she developed a passion for writing -- one that has accompanied her during her entire adult life. She published poetry in Encore and Poet-Speak and was the recipient of awards from the Oregon State Poetry Association, the Nevada Poetry Society and the Alabama State Poetry Society. She was a flight attendant for Delta Airlines most of her career and drew extensively from her travels to various destinations, most notably Japan. Until her death in September of 2011, she lived in Lake Oswego, Oregon with her husband George, a Portland-based entrepreneur. She had one son, Graham, who currently lives in Houston, Texas. In Flight represents the collected works of Jan Veile's life as a poet.
