Karate Kids 101 is a visual guide to traditional style karate's first steps. It starts with the basics--how to tie a belt, stand, punch, kick, block--and also covers two basic forms or kata This book is for beginning students looking for step by step pictures of the basic techniques practiced in traditional style karate. Karate is for everyone. Children as young as 4 years old can start if parent(s) participate. In my classes there are lots of 4-year old karate kids. How about senior citizens? Of course they can practice too. They become healthier, younger, and full of energy. It is the first book from Tokyo's Shingetsuryu Karate School Japan master, Yasushi Abe.
After graduating from Nihon University with a degree in Physical Education in 1982, he worked as a physical education teacher in Tokyo Japan. He won 8 consecutive times at the All Japan Teacher competition. He taught karate to five of his children who all became Tokyo City kids champions. His family was able to enjoy the only male championship trophy and the only female championship trophy at the same time.
