Marca Ruiz views the pottery studio as her sanctuary--until human cremains are found in the recently fired kiln. Police Detective Anders Johanson takes charge of the case, to unravel the sudden disappearance of Matthew Fyre, the master potter leading Marca's class when the macabre firing occurred. Anders makes Marca's heart step up its pace. But Matthew's wife Alice doesn't trust the young detective. She'll do anything to find resolution, even break the law. Then the case heats up when Marca becomes the next target! Suspense, crime, and romance intertwine in this mystery set in the Pacific Northwest. Kiln Zone takes place in Woodsdale, Washington, like the author's later release, Dream Mire. The two stand-alone vels share some cross-over characters.
Sharman Badgett-Young has been an amateur sleuth since she read her first Hardy Boys mystery as a young tomboy. Over the years, her detective skills have paid the bills as a research analyst and a Marriage and Family Therapist. Sharman started to write a first novel in sixth grade. In 2014, she received a first place award, for an original Non-Fiction Story, from Write On The Sound in Edmonds, Washington. In each November, 2013, 2014, and 2015, she completed a 50,000+ word draft of a different novel, thereby winning NaNoWriMo for those three years. She intends to do the same in 2016 and in years to come. She resides in the Pacific Northwest where, when not writing, she spends rainy weekdays at the pottery studio, rainy weekends combing the woods for hidden geocaches, and rainy nights curled up with her husband and their odd orange cat. Kiln Zone is her first published novel. Her second novel, Dream Mire, also takes place in Woodsdale, Washington, and the two stand alone novels contain some cross-over characters in the police department.
