Sometimes the best things in life are the simple things. Ernie and the guys at the Iron Lake Fishing Club like to keep things simple and that applies to kitchen work, too. When a number of fans of THE IRON LAKE FISHING CLUB published in 2010 asked for more camp recipes he chose almost sixty favorites and cooking tips with more camp stories and some local color collected over several decades and put them together for folks in fishing and hunting camps to use and enjoy. These are things that a man can cook with what's in the cupboard and put a hot meal on the table when it's too dark to fish says Ernie. After reading the recipes, the kitchen tips and the KITCHEN STORIES you'll feel as if you've had your feet under the table at the Iron Lake Fishing Club. This is a collection of recipes and kitchen ideas all wrapped up with tales and stories from the far rth and the deep south. Everything from Yooper Venison Stew to Alligator is included along with tips to keep your cast iron in tip top shape and entertain the grand-kids on a rainy day. In the rth they chill their beer in the lake and in Louisiana you can fry a Grilled Cheese Sandwich on the hood of your truck. So, pull up a chair, get something to drink and join the Club.
Keith Davis lives and works in South Eastern Louisiana with his wife Diane, having moved there from the woods of Michigan's Upper Penninsula in 2004. The two areas, home to several diverse cultures and histories, motivated him to assemble a group of letters, many based on actual experience. What started out as just some random E-mails to friends became a monthly serial in a local magazine. The book of camp recipes and stories was the natural follow-up. Mr. Davis was born in Wisconsin, and lived and worked there, then New York State, Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. And, while winter snow and boiled potatoes for dinner seemed normal in those places, he has learned to appreciate the sunny warmth of the South as well as fresh shrimp, local peaches and bread pudding with bourbon sauce. Prior to this time his writings have been published in a variety of popular magazines and trade periodicals and the book, IRON LAKE FISHING CLUB.
