Kleine Und Mittelstandische Betriebe in Unternehmerischen Netzwerken: Die Reidemeister Auf Der Vollme Im VOR- Und Fruehindustriellen Metallgewerbe Der Grafschaft Mark by Michael Scherm (Paperback / softback, 2009)
Must companies constantly grow in order to be successful in the long run? Networks of small and medium-sized companies offer, in many cases, a successful alternative to large commercial expansion. However, if data on sales growth and firm size as measures of success are limited, what criteria of entrepreneurial success can be used for measurement? The author addresses this question using the example of the metallurgical industry in Sauerland, Germany. Since the standard business tools provide for limited understanding in this case, the author designs an interdisciplinary approach to the topic by combining different approaches and methods from the ecomic, social, and historical sciences. The volume shows ecomists and historians new ways of adequately assessing ecomic activity and business success in an increasingly complex value chain as characterized in our modern ecomy.
