We bought the LaCie as it's basically the only USB-C external drive around. Diagnostics show it's reasonably fast but would you chose appearance over price since it's performance is really no better that cheaper drives. One major criticism is its razor sharp edges, maybe Porch should stick to designing cars & not rectangular boxes? One point to note is that if you buy the drive go for the 2TB as often the 1TB can actually cost more! USB-C is a good thing & the way of the future. It comes with two cords USB-C to USB-C plus USB-C to USB 3.1 something that's near impossible to establish on the LaCie site. Also a point to watch is it's physical size which is 185mm x 138mm x 11mm (somewhat larger than a WD). This makes it too tight to fit into your general drive storage zip up case. Conclusion: A good drive albeit around 35% dearer than other drives but then again it looks good & is solid, though research confirm that it's not "droppable".Read full review

Does what I wanted it to do and has software for backup as well. However I am disappointed with the case, in photos it looks like it is either a gloss plastic finish or aluminium but instead its cheap looking mat silver plastic with not very nice sharp edges. I have a rugged hard drive of the same brand, should have bought another.
