The literary Lyrics project is an endeavor designed to contribute to the cultural integrity of hip hop. By transcribing and making available in print, thoughtful and provocative lyrics of substance, the Literary Lyrics Project offers fans of the culture, insight into the words beyond the beat and expands the experience and enjoyment of intelligent hip hop. Containing the complete lyrics of songs featured on the live instrumentation hip hop album entitled Uprising by Imiuswi Aborigine, the written word is as potent on the page as in performance. Read independently or in conjunction with musical recordings, Literary Lyrics, Volume 1, Uprising, is offered as a homage to hip hop, to be dissected, analyzed and appreciated.
Imiuswi Aborigine is a renaissance artist of multiple genres. A graduate of the Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California, former member and performance award recipient of the National Association of Dramatic Speech and Arts, Imiuswi has been honored and encouraged by the city of Los Angeles for her works as an artist activist. Alternately a freedom fighter and transient muse, her libertarian lifestyle invokes restlessness and the desire to fly. She crochets, composes music, loves to travel and is lead vocalist in a hip hop band.
