This book is very well written in a style that makes it easy to understand and follow. This is an excellent true story about Carlos Hathcock, Marine Sniper, and his comrades and friends. The author vividly describes the landscape and temperature, the events that happened and the personalities of the soldiers in such a way that I felt as if they were my friends. It will open your eyes to a small part of the hell that was Vietnam. It will tear your heart out at the same time that it is making you proud of these soldiers and what they endured for our freedom. I laughed, I cried and I cheered when he accomplished a mission! My heart was filled with pride and respect for this brave soldier, and anguish for the pain and suffering that he knew in his life. He was a man of good character and his life was devoted to the Marine Corps and America. I was impressed to learn about the sniper school that is still functioning today. I was very interested in reading this book because my cousin was a sniper and Green Beret in Vietnam and will not speak about it to this day. I have always had great respect for him. I have more after reading this incredible story. Many people thought and still think that being a sniper is wrong. I think it is a necessary evil, a vital part of winning a war, no more wrong than any other part of war. Open your heart and try to imagine living the life that these men lived when you read this book. You will come away with a different point of view. My heart was filled with overwhelming love for these men who gave so much for us. Brave men, strong men, willing to die if necessary, praying that what they were doing was making the world a better place. They were deserving of a hero's welcome when they returned home but many did not receive it.Read full review
A very good book about an extremely talented man. The author described a man with unique ability that made a positive mark on the history of United States involvement in the Vietnam war. I really enjoyed the book.

Gunnery Sargent Carlos N Hathcock II is one of the greatest snipers of all time. THE greatest in my humble opinion. This book will take you into the mind of White Feather, Vietnam's deadliest sniper. Henderson does a magnificent job of making you picture the environment and the situation vividly. To get the complete experience of Gunny Hathcock buy Silent Warrior, also by Charles Henderson, to read along with Marine Sniper. I think it only appropriate to close with a quote from the man himself; "The most deadly thing on the battlefield is one well aimed shot."
Just as Great as “American Sniper” by Chris Kyle. But this one is the old school version. Amazing what those men could do and what they endured. There should be a movie about the life of White Feather also!
