Edith Meiser was a stage and film actress, writer, and radio producer born in Detroit in 1898. She passed away in 1993 at the age of 95. Meiser appeared in more than 20 Broadway shows and a number of films and was a writer and performer for radio including working with the Marx Brothers. She is credited with revitalizing interest in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's famed detective, Sherlock Holmes as she persisted in her belief that American audiences would enjoy the stories and after a long battle and finding her own sponsors, she wrote the radio scripts which adapted and featured all new stores. The newspaper strips, written by Meiser, ran in the 1950's from the New York Herald Tribune Syndicate.
