The main character, a young impressionable boy named Max, is convinced his teacher is a bee. He persuades his two closest friends to join him in what proves to be a strange adventure. As the story progresses, the reader is drawn into a world which only a youthful and vibrant imagination can describe. Children, reading the book for themselves, will have difficulty in recognising this world. Adults reading the book to their children will find it a pleasant and amusing experience, which might well bring back to them memories of their own youthful fantasies.
