For as long as anyone could remember, the wiggleskins lived by a simple rule: necks out to eat, and necks in to hide! And that's how it's always been, until the dreadful day when the wiggleskins are suddenly plucked from their holes in the mud. Only one brave wiggleskin, named Edwin, remains. To save his mum and the rest of the wiggleskins, Edwin must abandon his shell and adopt a new rule: Necks out for adventure!
Timothy Basil Ering is the illustrator of the Newbery Medal-winning The Tale of Desperaux (9780744598698) by Kate DiCamillo, Mr and Mrs God in the Creation Kitchen (9780763612580) by Nancy Wood, and the author and illustrator of the acclaimed picture book The Story of Frog Belly Rat Bone. He was inspired to write Necks Out for Adventure! while clamming with his brother. I watched a clam disappear into the mud, and I realized that clams and people have something in common: both miss out on exciting things when they tuck their necks in and hide. He lives in Massachusetts, USA.
