If you are looking for a transcooler for your BA Ford you probably know about the water contamination issue with the radiator and trans fluid and the cost involved to replace the trans unit. This kit will in the long run save you a lot of money and time. If you tow or just want to improve the longevity of your car transmission fit a cooler. The complete kit is well put together and full instructions make it easy to fit if you are handy with tools. The installation looks very neat and secure, the cooler unit is large enough for good cooling and it is of a better design compared to some cheaper coolers on sale. My only gripe with the kit however was that one of the cooler mounting brackets would not fit in as one of the bends was done incorrectly ( yes definitely the bracket and not the car). I also added some hose armour to protect the rubber hose against the edges on the bends to prevent any possibility of it rubbing through.Read full review

After hearing of the probability of transmission fluid eventually being contaminated by engine coolant in the BA series, due radiator failure, it was a "no-brainer" to fit this external cooler and keep the two fluids entirely separate. Fitting was straightforward, if a little fiddly to get the supplied brackets lined up, but that was due to the metalwork below my radiator being a little bent before I owned the vehicle. Once that was sorted, it was plain sailing. In my case, I also took the opportunity of dropping the pan off the transmission and changing the fluid filter. Allowing for the increased capacity of the added external cooler, it required around 4.5 litres fluid to top it up. But now all good, and even though I don't do any towing, it's good to know I've averted a possible costly breakdown down the track.Read full review
