Permaculture is the design of a sustainable way of living. Using principles inspired by nature, it aims to maximize productivity while minimizing energy inputs and environmental impacts. The principles apply t only to gardening and agriculture but also to communities, businesses and other areas of life. This inspiring DVD shows permaculture in practice in four very different settings: * A back garden in Hampshire, with fruit trees, vegetables, bees and poultry. * A City Challenge project in Bradford near a large housing estate, where small-scale food production is practised against a background of unemployment. * A community co-op in Devon, with a cafe, allotments and local composting scheme. * A small farm in the Forest of Dean, producing meat, vegetables and charcoal, where invative marketing ensures a close link with consumers.
Malcolm Baldwin is a director and cinematographer, who directed the documentary Forest Gardening with Robert Hart.
