Cute game but not what I expected.
The dogs you can choose from are very cute. If your child likes to read alot, this game is perfect. My husband and I sat down and played this game and I was tired from all the reading and couldn't really enjoy the game. The whole story is an extremely well planned lesson for you to stay away from someone who is trouble and not to trust someone after being told to stay away. All of the islands and place to place areas were pretty. But my nine year old lost interest as soon as the searching began. I would not buy this game if there were other pet games to choose from. We bought this game thinking you would adopt a puppy, raise it, play with it and all the other things that come along with taking care of an animal. My nine year old has the DS version of pets and that is what you do, take care of pets. I like the game other than the reading and traveling back and forth so many times. Read full review

My daughter LOVES this game, now wants Catz, Horsez...
My daughter fell in love with this game when I rented it from video store in town. SO happy to have found it for a great deal and speedy arrival! The dogs are so cute, she just needed help in saving her games correctly so she could pick up where she left off the next time. Hours and hours of fun for her.

Fun ADVENTURE game!! Good game, NOT a pet simulator!!
The biggest controversy about this game is that the official description of the game from Ubisoft, which can be found on the back of the games' case, leads you into thinking that this game is a virtual-pet type of game where you train and care for a puppy. It's actually not. The game is an adventure game, similar to Zelda games, where you get into trouble by accidentally releasing an evil wolf from prison who gets a hold of a powerful magic hat, and then you have to run around and do tasks (quests) for other people (dogs) which helps repair the damage that's been caused to the town. The way the storyline goes, you play as if you ARE The dog, so the game is really like a roleplaying game and nothing like a pet simulator. But, it is a great game in that the story is intricate (a little hokey at times but still), and the graphics are cute and great. There are a lot of things to do including tracking down items or people and catching bugs and fish. You can't kill your enemies (which are wild animals), but you can stun them by barking, and they can hurt or kill you. You can earn different clothing items to customize your character. There are also minigames, which are really cool and can be played with the computer or another person. Although 'puppies' seems a little juvenile, it's not necessarily a game for small kids because there is a lot of reading and it's easy to get lost or confused, it does take some thought. And the wolf could actually be scary for small kids? Don't think this is a baby game because it's not. If you're looking for a virtual puppy, try the game "Puppy Luv". I would say this a great adventure game for anyone who likes dogs! (check out Gamespot.com for good game reviews) Read full review

Amazing Game! Over 40 breeds to choose from.
My kids are 5 and 6 (girl and boy) and they love this game. I even had fun playing it a bit to show them how to use it. My oldest can read so it's not really a problem for him but my daughter needs some assistance since she can't read yet. If you child loves dogs and simple adventure then this is the game to get. It's so cute to watch them choose from the 40 breeds of dogs available as well as naming the animal. I wish there were more options to choose regarding clothing but it's still a winner! The best part is watching the dog follow the bone (cursor) all around the screen. If you have little ones you will love this game.

So far a fun game! I can see that the snakes and bad animals would be scary for some children, but being.. I'll just say older, it's quite amusing, and the bad animals don't even chase you from what I've seen so far. You get to choose from 40 adorable puppies and play fun games like cops and robbers. Good entertaining game so far.
