A gentle mix of educational facts and fiction makes the Adventures of Pinky Baboon an ideal source of entertainment. The stories are written to t only capture the imagination of toddlers and pre-schoolers but also moms and dads who have to read the stories over and over again. Basing her stories on her love for the bushveld and education, Carli Roodt has created a platform from where Pinky takes the reader on a discovery of interesting facts mingled with fiction. Pinky goes looking for her friend Dan Zebra when she meets Henry Hyena, Daisy Hippopotamus, Freddie Warthog, Billy Lion, Gabby Giraffe, Martha Elephant and Brian Kudu along the way. While on her journey Pinky learns many interesting facts about her friends that are accompanied by a did you kw section.
Carli Roodt drew her inspiration from her aunt Veronika Roodt best known for her Books and Maps on Botswana and her Did you know series on mammals, grasses and plants. After reading stories to her son night after night she wanted something more, something where both of them could learn without it being too difficult for a toddler. Her sister Hestie Roodt was so excited about the story that she decided to join in on the project by doing the illustrations. With a strong background in fashion, Hestie created the animals by combining different shapes and colours that help young brains develop their sense of shape and inspires the imagination.
