Searing Series as Jane Juggles Judgments.
The Prime Suspect is the ultimate pot-burner, page-turner only in frame mode, hasn't aged one jot in the years since it was the "must-see" item on detective/murder plot shows. Helen Mirren is the cool, crafty, cluey crime solver - or is she? - does something else lurk behind those cool, cool eyes, that searching stare, that quick cigarette, that driving brain? This is a British series which doesn't miss a beat, it drags you in from the opening scene, the bit players being all those British characters you love so much from the backblocks of TV crime, so essential to plot development. If you're thinking of knocking somebody off, please, for your own sake, don't do it while ever Detective Jane Tennyson is either watching you, sniffing out a clue, seeking that one fingerprint, noticing that speck of blood on the corner of the blind which everybody else neglected, or taking note of your shaking hand as you pick up the glass of water she has so kindly offered you - was she after your fingerprint, or is she all heart after all? - you tell me - but don't let it be from Wadsworth Prison, once she has you behind bars, she'll never let you go. Tennyson is trim, tough, tyrannical, and torturing, but more than that, she always TRIUMPHS.Read full review
