The Pietist movement has always been strong in the Scandinavian countries and in many places their influence is still felt. This volume collects and introduces the writings of prominent Pietists from each of the countries, including such well-kwn names as Nils Grundtvig (Denmark), Carl Olof Rosenius (Sweden), Lars Levi Laestadius (Finland), and the hymn writers, prominent among whom are women.
Mark A. Granquist is Associate Professor of the History of Christianity at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, MN. He has published extensively on Lutherans and the Lutheran tradition. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago Divinity School.
