I slowly turned around to see my parents swerve into an oncoming truck. They had switched lanes to get out of the way of a little girl on a tricycle. Her pigtails were blowing in the wind, and she let out a scream as she witnessed what was about to happen. The sun blinded my dad, and he drove the car headfirst into a semitruck. They had died instantly. The trucker got out and looked me straight in the eyes with sorrow. Soon the police came and asked who the couple was. My parents, I said and fell to the ground and cried. The reason for the accident: they didn't want to hit a little girl. The reason they almost did: I had forgotten my cell phone. The reason they died: me. I had killed my parents. Everything happens for a reason, but why? This is the question eighteen-year-old Macy has been asking herself since her parents died in an accident she believes she caused. Now she lives with her aunt M and two cousins, Ashley and Kyle, until school starts back in the fall. No one understands why she thinks she killed them, and she won't let anyone in to help her realize she didn't. That is, until she meets Zac. Zac works for her aunt and soon becomes Macy's best friend. But Zac has secrets of his own that he too is afraid to share. Macy falls for Zac in a way she thought she never would and soon has to make a decision: tell Zac her secret with the risk of losing him or keep living a lie around him. What she chooses changes her world forever. What will happen when the Secrets of Summer are revealed?
