A slow-witted horny Irish farmer (Gleeson) inherits his fathers sheep farm and decides that in order to deal with his newfound isolation and role of responsibility he will spend his time and money on sex. He meets sassy New Zealand prostitute (Gordon), and strikes up a familiar connection. She, in turn, commences his education in varying subjects such as personal presentation and his pornographically skewed attitude towards females. Part magic realism part deadpan slacker comedy, Sensation embodies the best comic charms of independent cinema with the modest homely means of its small town setting and social microcosm. The winning performances benefit from its always surprisingly offbeat tone. The comedy executed with droll and surprising humanistic touches. Sensation is a rare blend of filmmaking at once cunning and innocent.
