Window Hardware

When building, renovating or repairing windows, there are many different items to choose from. Whether working professionally or doing some DIY repairs and upgrades, make sure you get the right hardware for your needs.

Window Latches, Bolts and Locks

One of the simplest and easiest jobs when doing work on windows is the replacing and upgrading of latches, bolts or whatever you are securing your window with. This is because it does not require removal or refitting of the window, and can be done for either stylistic or security reasons. Child-safe locks are a common addition, with some replacing the existing lock and others simply forming a secondary lock over the orginal that protects it from little fingers. Other upgrades may include latches that are key-lockable for added security. Different latches and locks that match different styles are also available. Simple latches to hook windows open are another popular addition.

Window Groove and Hinge Fittings

Different designs of window require different hardware. Some windows that open outward require fittings to both support them and lock them into an open position. Replacements for these are easily purchased, along with the necessary attachments for installation on to a new window. Corner caps protect the edges of your windows from any point of contact and rollers can be fitted to some windows that may require additional assistance sliding open or closed. Small safety blocks can also be installed to prevent windows from being opened wide enough to let an intruder in, allowing you to leave your window ajar without compromising your security. Cable-based restrictors are also used, though these focus more on keeping children from opening the window too far, and are often key-secured for easy removal.

Window Accessories

Additional purchases for windows include hardware for awnings, sashes and curtains. Roller handles for awnings allow them to be opened smoothly and easily, and awning pulley replacements ensure they are kept in good repair. Sashes and sash hooks can help secure your curtains or blinds in a fashionable style, and hidden sash balances can keep your sashes neatly organised without being visible.
