I Brought this type of phone not only foe the user friendly setup but for the size of the phone and the reputaion re Xperia phones. After using the basic mobile phone to just send messages, use the camera and make calls and not knowing a lot re the updated real world of what a mobile phone can do, i found this set up not has hard to work out how to use it to what I need. With the larger screen it is great as with eyesight problems make it easier to see waht I am doing. Would recomend this Sony Xperia V - 8GB Black smartphone to others
I moved from an iPhone 4S to the the Xperia V. I've been satisfied with the transition to android although there are a few things I do miss and a few I do not. The OS with sony's modifications is very stable for the most part. The sony walkman stuff is pretty cool and it's fairly up to date. Still, it does give me a few more problems than iOS in regards to apps crashing or getting into odd problem states where a reboot is the only solution (& the one time it corrupted my sdcard). The extra flexibility vs iOS is a god send though! The performance is decent certainly. The OS will lag when you have lots of tasks running, it's no where near as smooth as say my girlfriend's Galaxy S3. It has played every game I've thrown at it including epic citadel. The phone is packed with features for a phone at this price range; LTE, MHL, sd card, 720p screen, decent GPU. All the features work great except the front camera is no where near as good as an iPhone 4S' imo. MHL (HDMI via USB) is nice, fun to use and works great with this phone. The battery is the only thing that is really holding back this from being a 5 star phone. Since moving from an iPhone 4S, I notice i'm charging my phone much, much more often. I'm fairly good about disabling feature & closing apps when not using them however I still find myself halfway through a bus trip with my phone shutting off.Read full review
Pretty stable with the .140 version of the AOS. LTE is performance is more than acceptable. Dual core CPU does the job. Photos are very good from camera. Phone calls are clear, etc. The sony software ie walkman is pretty good. Music via headphone is really good. Need a screen protector!, my phones are a tool to me. So screen already abit scratched. CM10.1 now supports this phone and Sony seem to be very helpful with ROM developers
I previously had an iphone 4s and found it to be a much better product. From the packaging to the overall build and ease of use, the Apple iphone was clearly ahead. I expected the Sony to have a better sound when playing songs but not only was the iPhone louder and clearer but the earphones were better designed, more comfortable, had thicker wiring and of a much better quality. The one area where the Sony has it over the iPhone is in its music app. The "Walkman" is much easier to use than iTunes. Not enough to win me over. Disappointed.
