When the strange yet brilliant crimilogist Gilbert Bishop Crane turns to the sport of bowling with the unabashed passion he usually reserves only for his mother, Detective Grace Forest and the rest of the crew on Gravers Lane are hard put to get him to accept any investigative work. The only thing that gets him to take a break from the pins is the death of a retired Broadway actress who lived a few doors away. What was considered a simple accident began to smell a little fishy on closer inspection. But as the suspect list rises, things heat up for the detectives of G.B. Crane and Associates. Those with motive have opportunity and vice versa. But with the help of Grace, Victor, and Sam, the eccentric Bishop finally strikes on a clue and pins the extremely twisted and wily murderer.
