Amanda S. Nelson worked as a kindergarten teacher for nearly fifteen years after earning her BA in elementary education from Florida Gulf Coast University. While teaching, she was honored with the prestigious Brilliant Orange Award, which is given to Hendry Countys best first-year teachers, and was later named the 2010 Teacher of the Year for Edward A. Upthegrove Elementary School. A member of the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators, Nelson lives with her husband, Danny, on her family ranch near Fort Myers, Florida. Laurie Klein is the on-staff artist for the education department of SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment. She earned her BS from Maryville College and has worked as a freelance artist for more than twenty-five years. In 2008, the Pennsylvania School Librarians Association awarded Klein the Outstanding Pennsylvania Author/Illustrator Award. The illustrator of eight previous books and a member of the Society of Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators, Klein lives in St. Augustine, Florida.
